With so many natural hair subscription boxes available; Where does one start? I thought it would be a good idea to do a bit of comparative online research and find out which box would be the best fit you and your hair goals.
Personally I think boxes are great because in most causes you get such a variety, I think they are a great way of trialing products you have had your eye on for a while or maybe a special gift for a new natural or just because you deserve a treat for yourself. The festive season is at our door step so having a pre-packaged gift is a great way of keeping things simple! I have picked 4 boxes to review and yes Natural Curlies Hair Farmacy favourite’s box is in there. The main points I am going to be looking at are; packaging, content, USP (unique selling point), price and value for money.
Natural Curlies Hair Farmacy Favourites Box
This box launched in October and it’s birth has been provoked by the success of popular natural hair YouTube Channel NaturalCurliesTV. I constantly get asked about the products I use in my hair so the best thing for me to do was package my favourites into a box for you.
Very simple, and has a natural and earthy feel which is in line with overall branding of the box.
Box includes four different brands
One full size product and four trial sized products
Three samples from natural and organic brands
One shower cap
One branded complimentary gift from Natural Curlies
Unique selling points
Tried and tested products by NaturalCurliesTV on YouTube
No sulphates, silicones, parabens, mineral oil or petroleum in any of the products
All products are cruelty free

Value for money
Unlike other boxes on the market, the Natural Curlies Hair Farmacy Favouries Box is an exclusively all natural friendly ingredients for your curls. With tried and tested products no other natural hair box brands offer before they sell to their consumer. The products are high end quality which would make this box worth £29 excluding the added extras such as packaging, samples, and complimentary gift. This box is for the person that simply wants to see a difference with their natural hair and on an ethical level too. If you prefer mainstream brands then this box may not be for you.
CurlBOX was created for women who become frustrated by the amount of products and not finding what worked for them. The solution is curlBOX, an exclusive affordable and effortless way to explore hair care products delivered to your doorstep each month.
Products are packaged in a sleek looking black box with large gold and purple logo on the front.
Four or more quality hair product samples
Each month there is a different theme. Novembers box theme was ‘Pro’ all products in the box were from the Paul Mitchell Line so customers can maintain that beauty salon look for longer.
$25 including shipping
List basis – on demand
Value for money
If you’re lucky enough to be living in the US then this would be value money as the product sizes are good and you would spend more buying these individually. My worry is that if you have only one brand featured in the box for some people that might be ineffective. If that particular product line doesn’t suite the consumers’ hair texture you are then stuck with 4 or more products that don’t work for you.
TreasureTress Launched as the UKs first subscription box specifically catered to young girls with naturally kinky, curly, coily, frizzy hair. They navigated the sea of natural hair products to handpick the very best and deliver them to UK mini naturalistas and mummy naturalistas on a monthly basis.
Products are packaged in a sturdy white box with Treasuretress logo branding on the front.
Four – five products plus samples
Hair tool (but didn’t noticed one included in the November unboxing)
Three different boxes ‘Mini- me box, Tween Box and Qween Box’ caters for all the ladies in the family.
Value for money
This box is great and I love the fact they cater for the kids as well as the teen girls to the mature lady. The box includes products that are mainstream and easily purchased in a beauty supply shop, which is good as this means it is easily accessible for a re-purchase. With this box you’re not quite sure what your going to get until you receive it as the website does not give you any indication about what products that are going to be in your box. Each month is definitely a surprise lets just hope that it’s a pleasant one.
Does Natural Hair Week sound familiar to you, if not then it should. One of the founders of Natural Hair week has extended her entrepreneurial business to bring you the ‘CurlyTreatBox’. This box was created to help naturalistas cut through the clutter in the shops and discover what natural products work for your natural hair with minimal effort.
Products are packaged in an appealing white and red box with logo.
Four to five full size hair products
On occasion a hair tool
All products appear to be full sized.
Wash day kit and style
Value for money
You will love this box if you enjoy trying a single brands’ product line. This appears to be a common theme through the months. All brands that have been included in the box they are easily sourced in a local beauty supply store so for those that can’t take the waiting game of online purchases when you want to re-purchase this box may be for you. If you want to try something slightly less mainstream then this box may not be the one for you.
I hope you managed to get some insight into what is available. If you have tried any of the above boxes please leave your comments below, so everyone can get an idea of how the boxes may benefit them.
Peace & love
