Natural Hair Journey With Anstacia
Hi!! My name is Anstacia, I’m a twentysomething natural girl who’s honestly still trying to find my way.
I’m a Mississippian who’s into art, blogging, and obviously my natural hair and all three of those things have literally taken over my life in an amazing way. I’ve been natural all of my life and I definitely want to keep it that way.
As a child, my mom put maybe 4-5 relaxers in my hair but it did nothing to my curl pattern. I’ve always had very curly/wavy hair (3C texture), since I was a baby. Well, I didn’t grow hair until I was 2, but when it did start to grow it never stopped. My mom would always put Baby Magic lotion in my hair and nothing else, but now that I am older and able to do my own hair I swear by the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. It leaves my hair soft and shiny.
My hair porosity is normal to high, if that makes sense. My hair requires very little maintenance, however, it can get very frizzy at time. I LOVE wash and go’s and two strand twists, they make my life so much easier.
I’ve also tried faux locks, they were very low maintenance as well. As stated before, I swear by Shea Moisture, so I use their coconut and hibiscus line of shampoo and conditioner. I wash my hair once every other week, and I spritz my hair with water and baobab oil every morning to wake my curls up. When sleeping I wrap my hair in a satin cap (protect those edges girl).
I LOVE my natural curls now, but honestly it hasn’t always been that way. I hated the way my hair looked because I never knew how to manage it on my own so I always kept it compacted into a bun. Now that I have other influences like youtube and natural hair blogs I LOVE trying new things. Now I take pride in my curly locs and I love getting questions about them.
